Adax MTP2-M2PA Relay

The Adax MTP2-M2PA Relay provides a new and low-cost and simple way to connect legacy TDM SS7 systems to IP network SIGTRAN SS7 systems running M2PA.  A major issue facing telecom service providers today is transitioning from legacy T1 SS7 to SIGTRAN. The decline of Long Line TDM support from the major carriers puts the burden of back haul onto the local carrier. This can be done with lower expense and without introducing an extra pointcode into the network.

Adax has a simple plug-in solution: the Adax MTP2-M2PA Relay. It takes MTP2 traffic and converts it to M2PA. Since there are no long-haul TDM links, emergency link proving and local retrieval are sufficient. All types of TDM SS7 are covered. It maps one TDM link to one M2PA connection. Multiple TDM links to multiple M2PA links are supported, one-to-one. This simplifies the connection between Legacy T1 lines to SIGTRAN SS7 systems such as STPs that only support M2PA. Multiple MTP2 protocols, single DS0s (56K/64K) or clear-channel links, and different TDM trunk types (T1 or E1) are all supported simultaneously.

Here are two example use cases. The first is MTP2 ANSI with 56K DS0s over T1 which is used in North American SS7 networks. The second is E1 clear channel MTP2 ITU Q.703 Annex A (High Speed Link) operation, often used in Europe and Asia.

By operating two Relay systems in back-to-back mode, long-haul TDM trunks can be replaced with an IP network between two TDM endpoints with greater reliability, higher bandwidth, and lower costs than the legacy long-haul TDM trunks.

The MTP2-M2PA Relay is available as a 1U rack-mount server with 4 or 8 T1/E1 trunks. It can supplied as a NEBS-compliant or a non-NEBS system with -48 VDC or 110-240 VAC power.  Systems requiring more than 8 T1/E1 trunks, for example, 24-48 trunks, can be delivered in 2U rack-mount servers.
